This week our topic is speaking😀💬Speaking is a crucial component of foreign language learning since it is the primary means of communication. One of the most effective ways to practice speaking skills is to directly communicate with native English speakers, however, this is often expensive😖Now here is a free online platform for students that offers such an opportunity to practice speaking through self-study! That is Speechling💥😻

How to use Speechling?

Speechling is a website and app that really focuses on speaking. There are different topics for you to choose from on Speechling, from basic expression to freestyle conversation. So basically you can talk about whatever you want on Speechling. All you do is record your own speech and send it to your personal coach, who will be a native speaker, to critique your pronunciation, so you dont have to worry about posting your voice recording on the internet and getting judged. Within 24 hours, you will receive personalized feedback from the native speaker (your coach), who will correct your word pronunciation, intonation, rhythm, grammar, word choice, and more. Here is a wonderful tutorial video about how to use Speechling, click and check if you are interested👀

For many students learning English as a second language, they may never have the opportunity to actually go to a foreign country and talk to English native speakers. Speechling creates a very easy opportunity for students to practice their speaking expressions and pronunciation. Most importantly, its all FREE and you can do everything at home😍

However, there are also some limitations...

In Speechling, students can only record one sentence or describe one question every time to send to the coach, which is limited in content, and since you can only communicate with the coach via email, you are not able to interact in real-time or generate a real dialogue and communication. As a result, it has a certain impact on the efficiency and effectiveness of speaking practice😣

But all in all, Speechling is still a very creative platform for students to practice speaking, and it's worth recommending to your students to give it a try!😘

That's all for today, I'll continue to share some other useful stuff next week💞💨

  1. Hi, Elora, thanks for sharing. There is a pity that Speeching could not offer real-time communications, which needs to wait for native speaker's feedback in 24 hours. I have a question about how this platform certifies native speakers, does he need to provide certificates or something like that, and how can I determine if he can give effective guidance to me?
