This week, our topic is artificial intelligence. As one of the most controversial new inventions in recent times and one that has sparked massive debate around the world, ChatGPT is undoubtedly one of the hottest topics of the day. I am so excited and can't wait to share with you how it can be used in teaching English😆
Just in case some of you don't know, although I'm sure the majority of you already do, I'll start with a brief introduction to what ChatGPT is. ChatGPT is a large language model developed by OpenAI, It is designed to generate human-like responses to natural language prompts.
How to use ChatGPT?
So, how can we apply ChatGPT to teaching English?
Wait a minute, if it's an AI that can answer questions, why don't we just ask itself😎

See, ChatGPT is amazing😍 It's like talking to a real human being, a very knowledgeable, patient human being who answers your messages whenever and wherever you want! I have to admit that since its introduction I have become totally dependent on ChatGPT and it has become an indispensable part of my life. I basically use it as a search engine, and I always start by discussing any problem with it.
When it comes to teaching English, it's certainly helpful too. As a teacher, you can go as big as asking it to directly write a lesson plan for you, just by giving it the topic and reference content, or narrow it down by asking it to adjust your language and correct details. The power of artificial intelligence is totally beyond our imagination 😀and here is a more detailed video on how you can use ChatGPT in your classroom👀
However, is there any limitation?
However, it is never a good idea to rely too heavily on AI, either as a teacher or as a language learner. The use of ChatGPT by students for writing assignments has become a very controversial issue, and teachers can also lose their creativity if they overuse AI in their teaching, especially in the design process😟 After all, AI is still not a real substitute for teachers' functions, such as giving personalized feedback. We still need to maintain critical thinking and our own creativity, and use AI as a tool and an assistant, rather than being dominant or controlled by it!

Hi, Elora. Thanks for sharing opinions about Chatgpt. Actually, I'm thinking that whether Chatgpt will replace language teachers because recently I noticed that some people are using this tool to learn English by themselves. And it seems very effective and useful. I'd like to hear more opinions.
